I was streaming tv episodes from surfthechannel.com and my computer started acting up. One of those fake antispyware ads came up and it wouldn't let me close it. I couldn't even get into my task manager and my desktop background had a message that was something like "YOUR COMPUTER IS INFECTED USE AN ANTIVIRUS PROGRAM NOW!" which was right in the middle of my screen. I restarted my comp after that and couldn't get into windows just a bsod with STOP: 0x0000007B at the bottom (not even in safe mode).

I plugged in an old hdd and changed boot priority which let me into windows then ran a bunch of virus/spyware scans but it still wont let me run windows off my main hdd.

If you have a windows disk, you might be able to go to a previous restore point. Instead of safe mode, you can try last known good config or safe mode command prompt.

What antivirus scans did you try?
Are you on XP or vista?

Looks like you picked up some nasty shit.

I get bsod for every mode I try to enter windows in.

I used AVG and SuperAntiSpyware to run the scans and I'm running XP.

I guess I'll just reformat the drive when I get my hands on an xp disk.

Would you recommend upgrading to vista?

You could try running fixmbr while booting off the other drive, but most likely you'll have to reformat or at least repair install. If you can, hold off til Windows 7.
